Fun with Simple Machines - Building a Catapult

Simple machines are the basis on which all machines are built and they include Levers, Gears, Screws, Inclined planes etc. In this one time hands on workshop, participants will learn about a simple machine called the Lever. They will put their learning into practice as they will build a working model of a catapult using the kit of materials provided.  They will discover  how energy is transferred and stored between bodies as they use their creation to launch different objects and participate in a discussion of what they have learnt. Not only will they have an awesome time and make friends but they will also learn how critical soft skills like problem solving, grit and persistence, collaboration and creativity help bring ideas from the realm of imagination to reality - skills which young people now need to thrive in the 21st century marketplace.

Fun with Electric Circuits 

What is electricity and how do circuits work? This hands on class will teach the fundamentals of circuits using the kit of electronic parts provided to participants. They will have great fun ceating simple circuits that enable them to explore what circuits do. The workshop ends with tonnes of fun where they get to use their love for art to color an ambulance and build a simple circuit to make the lights come on and off and a horn(hooter).Not only will they have an awesome time and make friends but they will also learn how critical soft skills like problem solving, grit and persistence, collaboration and creativity help bring ideas from the realm of imagination to reality - skills which young people now need to thrive in the 21st century marketplace.

Fun with Engineering: Building a rubber band powered car

Can energy be stored in a rubber band ? In this once only, hands on workshop, learners will travel on a journey of discovery into the Wheel and Axle makes the work of moving easier. We shall delve into how energy is transferred and stored in objects and to make learning even more fun, we shall build a super awesome rubber band powered car together using materials in the kit supplied. Not only will we have a super awesome time and make friends but we will also learn how 'soft skills' like problem solving, grit and persistence, collaboration and creativity help bring ideas from the realm of imagination to reality - skills which will help young people thrive in the 21st century marketplace.

Fun with Robots: Building a Doodlebot - A fun robot that draws !

Can young kids build robotic creations that actually work ? Find out in this once off workshop where participants learn about robots through building a 'Doodle Bot' - a battery operated robotic machine that gives countless hours of learning, fun and entertainment while moving and drawing doodles in three colors on a flat surface.
